Rectory green Policy
Our mission is to have a minimal impact on the environment and encourage the children in our settings to have the same respect and care for the environment as we do. At the childrens level we involve them in recycyling and often make trips to the local recycling plant.
The children also help with organising the items for recycling and some items are used for junk modelling. We also carry out topics and discussions about how we can improve and help the environment further. The children get involved in sowing and growing fruit and veg, developing an healthy interest in food and how it is produced.
Any food we cannot grow is sourced locally from Arbour farmshop. Our forest school trained staff also encourage a respect for nature and the environment around us through fun activities both indoor and outdoor.
The after school staff also offer a 'walking bus' service Monday through to Friday any weather to a selection of the local schools, promoting a healthy lifestyle for the school children. We also have solar panels fitted to the roof of our Burslem setting enabling us to produce our own energy powered by the sun, reducing our carbon foot print.
